SIOR Europe offering a unique experience to attend global real estate conference in Portland, Oregon
Two real estate students from Europe have been selected to attend the SIOR Fall World Conference in Portland, Oregon in October. The students’ participation has been co-funded by the SIOR Foundation Student Real Estate Experience Program and the European Regional Chapter in a joint initiative to support the next generation of commercial real estate professionals.
The opportunity was available to all current undergraduate or postgraduate students studying a real estate, finance or economics related discipline at a European higher education institution and attracted applicants from Belgium, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK.
The students selected to attend the conference include: Katarzyna Strzaka, currently studying for an MSc in Real Estate at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, having already completed a BSc (Hons) in Urban Planning & Property Development at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, and Joanna Geiser currently studying for a BSc in International Hospitality Management at the international hospitality and business school, Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne.
Paul McDowell, president of the SIOR Europe Regional Chapter, said: “The global leadership of SIOR is acutely aware that the future of the organisation is dependent upon its ability to attract the very best candidates into its membership ranks. Our student experience programme is just one initiative to engage with young professionals and offers a genuinely unique opportunity for these students to join some of the world’s leading practitioners at a premier global event.”
The students will join SIOR members from around the globe at one of the organisation’s flagship events. Attending key note speeches, seminars, networking events and exhibitions with circa 1,000 senior property experts, this is an unparalleled opportunity for any student to broaden their personal and professional horizons.
Earlier this year, the European Regional Chapter funded three students to attend SIOR Spring World Conference in Washington, DC. Speaking of the experience, a previous student participant, Nabeel Ahmed, said: “A key takeaway from my experience is how vested the organisation is in supporting students entering the industry. The networking events provided a fantastic platform to receive advice from various industry leaders and to build an international network of real estate professionals.”
The SIOR Student Experience Programme will shortly open for applicants wishing to attend the SIOR International European Conference taking place in July 2020
